Both Nuheat and Danfoss offer innovative solutions to warming your home. Warm your floor first and the heat will radiate upwards throughout your house! Both companies' solutions are similar, but differ in materials and application.

In the coming weeks, we will be discussing the installation and functional differences between the two, weighing the pros and cons of each and ultimately offering a recommendation.

Stay tuned for our breakdown!

Is Floor heating going to replace my heaters?

Should you rip up your flooring to lay a radiant heating system like those offered by Danfoss or Nuheat? It depends...

Radiant heating systems, in this case, floor heat is sometimes considered the most comfortable heating solution, since it eliminates hot or cold spots created by fan blown, forced air heating systems. Floor heating is radiant from the floor up. When warm, your feet with all of their nerve endings make your entire body feel warm, as opposed to warm air blowing on your face while you scamper across a chilly tile or wood floor to get to your slippers! The heat in a radiant heating system is transfered directly to people's skin, being more efficient than a forced air system which blows air all over the place, becoming quite cool before ever reaching you or your family's skin.

But should you do it? Well, it's a matter of your own choice. Many folks in the colder climates use a radiant flooring system to compliment their central, forced air systems. Floor heating is a great option for those of us adding on to our homes- many times adding a run if ducting or upgrading the central blower unit to accomdate add-ons is a real pain. This is where floor heating shines with it's ease of installation. Of course it should be considered in all new construction instances as it is most efficient at heating your home.

More on this topic in the coming weeks!

*Always remember to consult an experienced, licensed electrician for any electrical work. Electricity is a part of our lives in everyday use, but the misuse of it can prove fatal even in the home. If you have any hesitation when considering a DIY(Do It Yourself) repair, just call an electrician. It's always better safe than sorry!
